How To Kawaii-fy Your Space by Tish Valenzuela

How does one “kawaii-fy” a space? Well it can be as simple as using cute plushies, taping cute posters or sticking stickers all over your room. But doing so might make your space look cluttered, create a breeding ground for dust bunnies and even damage your furniture! To really make a room look and feel kawaii while maintaining a clean and organized look can be a daunting task. Follow some of these tips to achieve a super kawaii room while keeping it organized and neat!

Kawaii Tip 01: CABINET WITH GLASS DOORS/SEE THROUGH DOORS

Do you love collecting figma models, nendoroids, collectible toys and knick knacks? Do you have the entire Naruto manga collection? It’s quite heartbreaking to tuck in your prized collections and treasures in a box, hidden from the world. Try purchasing a cabinet with glass doors so you can proudly display your little treasures within one space. Your little figures will thank you for it!

Kawaii Tip 02: POSTER-FY YOUR ROOM

Want to place posters on your wall without chipping/staining your wall? Use blue tac instead of tape. Blue tac is relatively cheap (less than P200) and will always ALWAYS de-stick without leaving residue. Use little balls of the stuff on the four corners of your poster and stick away! Blue tac will also not damage the surface of your poster.

Kawaii Tip 03: RECYCLE EVERYTHING KAWAII

Do you have a super cute plastic bottle you don’t want to let go of? Do you want to save that Pocky box? Recycle these items by repurposing them! Create a flower vase, storage box, accessory organizers… Plus, it’s good for the environment.

Kawaii Tip 04: TICKETS, MEMORABILIA, CERTIFICATES AND PICTURES!

Keeping purikura pictures, post-its, concert/convention tickets and much more in a box is such a waste. Why not grab a cork board so you can display them all?

Kawaii Tip 05: NEVER STICK STICKERS/DRAW ON FURNITURE

I know it’s tempting, but you’ll regret sticking that hello kitty sticker on your prized white table. Not only does it look unclean, it’ll be difficult to remove and might damage your furniture. Try finding a Hello Kitty table cover or coaster instead. This way, you’ll be able to change your decorating style in the future, so if ever you move on to Rilakkuma, you’ll have a clean slate!
