March 28, 2015 – It was a grand day for celebrating matsuri at the event that was “Tamashii Convention.” Organized by De La Salle University’s student organization, Nihon Kenkyuu Kai, this was the first major tie-up of Kawaii PH wherein Kawaii PH was a sponsor for the said event that featured amazing acts, fun contests, fabulous prizes, creative booths and of course one of the highlights of the event, the Kawaii Fashion Show!
The event felt like a Matsuri (Japanese festival) because of the wonderful activities many booths offered. Some of the exciting activities we were able to do were eat takoyaki, scoop up goldfish and find our fortune through omikuji (fortune-telling paper strips)! These reminded us of the matsuri scenes we watched in anime shows! We’re proud of the Tamashii Con team for bringing the “feels” successfully!
It was fun looking at people enjoying the different activities at each booth! It really felt like you were in a Matsuri (though without the Yukata). Did you visit the Kawaii PH/JapanLover.Me booth? We were so happy because the Kawaii Fund shirts were sold out and a lot of people dropped by! Arigatou!
A lot of items from the store like Mad Tea Party shirts, Whimsicute ribbons, Dolly Kaye dresses and some JapanLover.me items were sold out! The team is happy and thankful to everyone who dropped by the booth!
There were also other activities like band performances, cosplay competitions, and jpop group covers!
A professor was invited to talk about the wonders of Studio Ghibli and everyone was listening intently during the talk, it’s like the whole event came to a pause. Ahh the magic that Studio Ghibli brings to people~
Before we take you to the rest of the venue/booths, it’s time for the main event, the Kawaii Fashion show presented by Kawaii PH! The brands included were Akiraya, La Princess Tea Doll, Forestale, Dolly Kaye, Dainty Dangerous, Dorotee Sweetlips and of course the Rainbowholic x LucypopJapan. These brands paraded their works with pride and kawaii-ness! Each designer brought out different kinds of fashion which captured the interest of a lot of people in the hall!
Akiray’s debut colletion with the designer Ding!
The La Princess Tea Doll Collection with the designer Barbie Chua.
The Forestale collection with the designer Ian Cartalaba.
The Dolly Kaye collection with the designer Kaye Romeero.
The Jane Doe Troubles Collection by Dainty Dangerous.
The Dorotee Sweetlips Collection with the designer Justine Chantelle.
And finally, the Rainbowholic x Lucypop Japan Kawaii Girl Uniform!
The Kawaii PH girls who participated in the fashion show were of course Dolly Kaye, the Kawaii PH ambassadress Gia, our Kawaii unicorn Celina, and our Kawaii Ninja Mica!
Overall, the audience enjoyed the fashion show as a lot of people gathered in the area to watch the kawaii-ness that was happening during that time.
One thing we noticed was, it wasn’t just the Kawaii PH/ JapanLover.me team who had a good time. When we roamed around the site, we saw the faces of the guests, visitors, and also booth owners happily assisting customers whilst enjoying whatever activity was going on! A lot of amazing figures, artworks and products were displayed and just looking at them will make you smile and take a picture of it!
The event was a huge success and we would like to extend our gratitude to the NKK team for their hardwork, and for trusting Kawaii PH. Congratulations on the successful event!
To everyone who participated and came, thank you as well and hopefully we’ll see you in the next event!
