Dubbed as the Kawaii and Harajuku Queen, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has taken J-pop to a whole new level with her catchy electro bubblegum pop music and youthful voice partnered with a sickly sweet yet with a twist of quirkiness and wickedness style in her fashion and music videos. Exuding cuteness from head to toe, Kiriko Takemura, who is more known by her stage name Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, was appointed as the “Kawaii Ambassador of Harajuku” by the mayor of Shibuya. Her debut single “PONPONPON” which was released in 2011 was a big hit around the world. Once you start watching her videos or listening to her music or just simply looking at her eclectic fashion sense, you won’t get enough of her!

Last April 5, 2014, Kaila and Anne Kate from Kawaii PH flew from their respective countries to Hong Kong to attend Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s concert. Hong Kong is one of the cities included in her Nanda Collection World Tour 2014. Let’s all hope that one day Kyary gets to hold a concert here in the Philippines as well!
The Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Experience
by Anne (KPP PH Founder)
Some of you may know that I am a BIG fan of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. I love her so much that I even created a Facebook fanpage and group for her Filipino fans. Seeing her in person is a part of my bucket list that’s why as soon as tickets for her concert in Hong Kong have been released, I made sure to secure tickets so that I can finally watch her live on stage.
Everything felt surreal last April 5, 2014 at Rotunda 3, KITEC, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong because I had a chance to attend Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s concert and see her for the first time in my life. It’s also my first time to attend a jPop concert in a foreign country. I can say that I didn’t expect that my fandom can reach this high because I really love that girl.
Kaila and I went there 2 hours earlier and upon arriving at the venue, I felt so happy to see other fans waiting for KPP in kawaii ensembles and KPP cosplays. The event felt very special because people from different nations united just to see Kyary.
We’ve got the chance to take photos at the photowall and behind KPP’s Ora2 poster. And while taking photos, an official photographer took our photo with the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Philippines sign!
Before the concert began, Pamyurin, Kyary’s official mascot went out to the waiting area/lobby of Rotunda 3 to say HI to the fans and as expected everybody went gaga.
The concert started on time because we, the fans/concert goers, were asked to go inside a few minutes before 8:00PM. We headed over to the mosh pit but then decided to go outside the pit for a better view. Luckily when we went outside we met some fellow Chinese KPP fans.
While watching the concert, our team was lucky enough to be snapped and featured by a Hong Kong news website called StarsHK.
Kyary performed several songs with a few intermissions in between like the appearance of a big bear playing with the crowd and a special screening of KPP John TV. Her stage costumes of course were super kawaii!
Also after the concert, Ora2 handed over some loot bags to the fans as souvenir. at the same time photo-ops with Pamyurin also happened which lead by Harajuku Kawaii TV.
It’s been weeks since I came back from Hong Kong but the concert memories are still vivid in my mind as if it just happened yesterday. I guess this is what they call a concert hangover? The KYARY PAMYU PAMYU NANDA COLLECTION TOUR 2014 is definitely one concert experience to remember. I hope that next time, we will get to watch her live here in the Philippines!
