Hi everyone! Today we’re back with another Kawaii PH x Daiso Japan Kawaii-fy DIY Project! We’ll be doing a cute and very useful Hanging Memory Board, and it’s just in time for keeping those sweet memories with your friends and loved ones *wink* alive in your room, plus, this project will help organize your plans and schedules too! Work-love-life balance: Check! ♥
♥ MATERIALS ♥
- Daiso wooden chalkboard
- Daiso steel hanger with 4 adjustable pegs/clips
- Daiso lace tape
- Daiso cork tags
- Daiso washi tape
- Daiso push pins
- Daiso tiny wooden pegs
- Daiso flower wood clip
- Daiso decorative sticky notes
- Scissors, double sided tape
- Printed photos, polaroid pictures, other memorabilia like movie tickets and sweet notes ♥
♥ PROCEDURE ♥
- Take out the wooden chalk board, lace tape, and washi tape.
Divide the chalkboard vertically using the washi tape.
Now, using the lace tape, cover the upper and lower borders of the chalkboard. Leave around 1-inch allowance on both ends of the tape so you can secure the ends on the side of the chalkboard.
Here’s how it should look, although you may add more embellishments as you wish. Just leave enough space for your notes, though!
2. Next, we’ll do the “corkboard part” of the board. Instead of using an entire sheet of cork board, we’ll use these very cute cork tags.
Take the yarn part of the cork tags and tie it into a bow.
Cut 2 pieces 1-inch length of double sided tape and stick it on the back of the cork tags.
If you’re having a hard time figuring out which is the back part of the cork tag, you’ll see in the photo below that the back ring of the tag is sort of layered, while the front has one smooth surface.
Plot the position of the cork tags on the chalkboard before sticking them. It is advisable to place 2 on the topmost part just below the upper lace tape border, and the other two on the bottom part just above the lower lace tape border. This way, we’ll have enough space for longer notes or lists.
After plotting their positions, go ahead and stick them carefully but firmly on the chalkboard.
3. Now that we’re done with the main board, we’ll proceed to the “hanging” part!
Take your 4-clip hanger and adjust the pegs/clips according to the width of the chalkboard, then, carefully clip the chalkboard on the lower pegs/clips of the hanger.
Next is our favorite part: decorating the hanger!
These Daiso flower clips are just so pretty and convenient!
Clip your favorite photos and memories using the upper pegs of the hanger. Add more photos using the tiny wooden pegs!
And tadaa~ We’re done! <3 You may add more decorations as you like at this point.
If you don’t like writing with chalk, you can use sticky notes to write on. (We love the sunny side up egg sticky note hehe)
You can put memos, checklists, and more photos! We used Daiso push pins on the cork tags.
Hang it up on your wall, where you can always see it (we recommend in front of your study table).
Hope you enjoyed this DIY project! ♥ And like last time, you can win Daiso Japan GCs by recreating this project on your own! Check out the mechanics below:
